First Inaugural Collegiate Scholarship to Darien Waite

We are proud to announce that the recipient of our first inaugural collegiate scholarship is Darien Waite! Darien is a defensive midfielder out of Columbia High School (NJ) and is planning to study chemical engineering in college.

Darien shared that “being awarded this scholarship is a dream come true. The scholarship brings me more joy than I can possibly put into words. It’s more than just money because it helps me support my parents as they continue to make sacrifices for me.”

With your support, we were able to transform the life of a hardworking student-athlete. However, we recognize that we have won only one of the many battles needed in order to combat wealth inequality and the financial illiteracy crisis facing not only our community but also our country. All of us here at the Game Changers Project are eager to double down on our efforts to promote opportunities educationally and financially throughout our college years and in the new communities that welcome us as students.

You can help on our mission by making a donation on our website (gamechangersnj.org), following us on Instagram (@gamechangers.project), and encouraging potential candidates to apply to our scholarship via our website. Together, we can lift the financial burden of a college education off of families’ shoulders while taking the issues propagating from socio-economic inequality head-on.
